Plastic Mold Maintenance Technician – Atlanta, Ga

A company manufacturing consumer plastic packaging products is searching for a Plastic Mold Maintenance Technician  to polish, maintain and repair plastic molds on second shift (1PM – 9PM).

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities Include:

  • Performing mold repair work on cavities and cores due to damage or wear.
  • Noting any changes to molds, inserts, parts, etc.
  • Documenting work and keep accurate records.Dissembling and assembling molds, analyzing and solving basic mold problems including flashing conditions, galling, venting, cooling problems, etc.
  • Assembling, repairing, inspecting, cleaning and polishing molds using skill and care while handling and polishing critical surfaces.Laying out, fabricating and assembling metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models and engineering or shop specification.
  • Using a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precision measuring instruments. Sets up and operates lathes, milling machines, electrical discharge machines, surface and cylindrical grinders.
  • Interpreting drawings, evaluating machining methods on assignments and occasionally instructing other toolmakers and apprentices in the operation and setup of tool room equipment.
  • Computing dimensions; determining machining and material or parts required. Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Solving problems relating to unusual material, work-holding arrangements, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production processes.

Injection Mold Engineer – Racine, WI

Description

One of the world’s leading makers of household products is searching for an Injection Mold Engineer to support manufacturing operations.  In addition to day-to-day support of existing manufacturing operations the Injection Mold Engineer will be executing engineering projects and providing long range technical planning and strategies for the business.

Principle Accountabilities:

  •  Design, manage, troubleshoot, and implement new mold projects with Third Party Manufacturers that are designed for machine, human interaction, method/process, raw material & environmental variability.
  • Responsible for estimating Major Expenditure Authorization (MEA) amounts and capital project execution including mold builder selection, justification, MEA processing, purchasing, and installation.  Support start-up efforts including in person training and documentation.
  • Recommend mold sizes (cavitation) based on volumes, seasonality, molding capacity and part cost vs. capital analysis for New Products in Ideation/Development phase.
  • Interface with staff and plant personnel, operators, and staff at contract manufacturers.
  • Provide Product Supply interface for other key areas including RD&E, Finance, Marketing, & other Manufacturing Subsidiaries and to Contract Manufacturers.
  • Identify, investigate, and implement potential cost savings opportunities.
  • Partner with COE to identify and align globally on new technologies & mold builders.
  • Consult on new mold designs to assure the molds will meet our “Mold Design and Construction Standards”.
  • Visit potential mold builders, evaluate their capabilities, equipment, manufacturing process, specialties and quality control process.
  • Investigate new technologies i.e. Stack molds, collapsing core systems, hot runner technologies etc.
  • CAD system applications:
    • Analyze 3D CAD part models for moldability, molding issues and part integrity.
    • Calculate part projected areas for IMM tonnage requirements and plastic volumes for injection unit requirements
    • Evaluate new mold designs and suggest modifications if necessary.
    • Transfer 3D data back and forth to product and mold designers to communicate changes and suggested improvements.
  • Troubleshoot mold and molding problems.

Requirements

Injection Mold Tool Maintenance Technician – Spartanburg, SC

A leading plastic closure company is searching for a Injection Mold Tool Maintenance Technician  to:

  • Maintain high precision multi-cavity hot runner stripper plate molds and integrated direct gate hot runner systems
  • Making necessary repairs and conducting preventative maintenance on injection molds
  • Provides support to the maintenance and production departments as required

Requirements

Skills:

  • Working with tooling related mechanical drawings (accurate interpretation and application)
  • Basic understanding of function and repair of plastic injection molds
  • Operation of machine shop equipment/ metal fabrication.
  • TIG welding a plus.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical principles related to the trade to include technical terms
  • Trade specific math – (working knowledge of geometry and trigonometry a plus)
  • Basic rigging skills to manage assembled molds and mold plates.

Injection Molding Maintenance/Tooling Technician – Spartanburg, SC

Description

A leading plastic closure company is searching for a Tooling/Maintenance Technician reporting to the Plant Manager.

 

The key responsibilities for the Tooling/Maintenance Technician are as follows:

  • Initiates action for non-conformances related to mold condition or function
  • Maintaining the injection molds at a level that focuses on preservation and product quality at or better than production standards
  • Performing mold related services to schedule (dates due and duration of downtime)
  • Setting and pulling the molds in and out of the injection machines
  • Providing support to the maintenance and production departments as required
  • Maintaining the following: Injection molds (troubleshooting/ inspection/ repairs/ cavitation/ PM’s), spare mold related tooling (safe storage, accurate inventory count, internal request for purchases of tooling components) and cleaning supplies associated with mold maintenance to include the solutions in the FISA sonic cleaner
  • Tools and equipment used are the right for the job and in good working order
  • Responsible for maintaining mold related records and department relevant notes.

Plastic Thermoforming Mold Designer – Mansfield, MA

Description

A rapidly growing turnkey thermoforming provider for custom and stock tray, blister, clamshell and container packaging is searching for a Plastic Thermoforming Mold Designer or Tooling Designer. The thin gauge molds/tooling will be used in the food packaging thermoforming process.

In addition to an annual salary in the $70,000 to 85,000 range, the Plastic Thermoforming Mold Designer will receive competitive benefits.

Plastic Injection Molding Project Engineer – Milwaukee, WI

A custom injection molding company that designs and manufactures complex, tight tolerance plastic injection molded products and assemblies for the defense / security, medical, consumer, industrial, and niche automotive markets is searching for a Sr. Project Engineer.  The Sr. Project Engineer will direct and coordinate engineering projects and programs, with an emphasis in complex tooling, by working directly with customers and vendors on a regular basis.

Primary Sr. Project Engineer responsibilities include the following:

  • Planning and implementing engineering programs per customer requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining schedules and budgets for assigned engineering projects, and control expenditures within budget limitations.
  • Coordinating preparation and delivery of project scope, design documents, and bid packages.

  • Computer proficiency with engineering software programs (SolidWorks, MoldFlow, etc) and Microsoft Office is required.

Injection Molding Process Engineer – Randolph, VT

A large and well established custom injection molding company wants to hire a Process Engineer who will be responsible for the implementation of fully qualified and documented production processes.

The Process Engineer will be transitioning new tooling programs from the Mold Development Center, performing new mold and process improvement mold trials, troubleshooting production processes and auditing of production setups for adherence to the documented process, and identifying automation and productivity improvement opportunities.

Injection Molding Project Engineer – Des Moines, IA

Description

In this role the Project Engineer will lead, expedite, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning, organizing, developing, integrating and completing of engineering and manufacturing projects to help define and meet customer requirements.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide custom plastic part and tool designs that meet customer expectations and internal requirements for mold fabrication, manufacturing and quality.
  • Drive the new product development process, including: tool/product design reviews, managing cost targets and technical customer support for launching new or existing plastic parts.
  • Create and maintain development schedules, product plans, and successful communication of the scope for projects managed including: customer’s intent, quality targets, product specifications, timeline and materials requirement with internal and external contacts.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through strong communication, while fulfilling the role of technical liaison between customer and support resources, both internally and externally.
  • Generate creative solutions that solve customer or internally identified problems, including plastic part design enhancements, automation, mold design, and processing enhancements.

  • Responsible for assisting in continued development of procedures, standards, controls, and processes through engineering and operations to improve team performance and reliability.
