Business Development Manager – Lancaster, PA

A custom thermoplastic molding company is searching for a Business Development Manager to lead the company’s business development efforts. The successful a Business Development Manager candidate will be an individual who is a relentless, self-motivated “hunter” with a passion to build a sales pipeline and grow a small, family-owned business. He/she will have a strong understanding of the competitive landscape within the injection molding or similar industry and will be responsible for developing new business and enhancing existing customer relationships. The Business Development Manager can operate from a home office and travel to the company’s facility near Lancaster, PA a couple of times each month.

• Continuously pursuing and prospecting new business opportunities across multiple markets
• Generating leads utilizing industry contacts, sourcing sites, social media and website traffic
• Developing a sales process that gathers, tracks and manages all leads for new business
• Presenting quotes, submitting Requests for Quotations and soliciting timely feedback from new and existing customers
• Gathering all necessary technical information to establish costing for quoting new business
• Reviewing market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, pricing and discounts
• Researching, analyzing and evaluating market and industry trends for growth opportunities
• Traveling as needed to meet with new/existing customers, attend trade shows or prospects
• Acting as a liaison between prospects/customers and the molding facility
• Preparing periodic sales report showing sales volumes and potential sales
• Preparing weekly sales activity updates along with other periodic reports on growth activities


• Bachelor’s Degree preferred but equivalent sales experience is acceptable
• Technical knowledge of plastic injection molding is a plus
• Ability to interpret technical documents (drawings, data sheets, etc.)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience selling plastic injection molded or related products
• Ability to gain access to Buyers and Purchasing Agents seeking thermoplastic molded products
• Demonstrated ability to hunt and sell from cold call to initial purchase orders
• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, negotiation and time management skills

In addition to an annual salary in the $95k to $105k range the company offers competitive healthcare benefits, an annual bonus up to 15% of base salary, a commission structure, corporate credit card for travel, and a mileage reimbursement using the IRS standard rate.
